Hi, there. I have a female cockatiel that is more interested in us humans which is great. Our mistake was getting her a friend, a male cockatiel, that couldn’t care less about humans and is utterly obsessed with her and mating. Day and night. 24/7. He’s screaming to locate her, even if she’s not far. Constantly wanting to mate with her. Will sit on fake eggs for hours at a time because she doesn’t really care. He doesn’t seem happy. His screeches are the real problem and his constant anxious state. My question is, how should we go about re-homing him? We don’t want him to be traumatized taking him away from her. We know she won’t care. But it’s been two years of this behavior and we’ve decided he’s not a good fit in our home. Any advice is appreciated.
