I keep making a habit of leaving my bedroom door partially open with my cockatiel inside, which is dangerous since there are also cats in my house.

I have considered a simple measure such as installing one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-WINDOW-PROTECT-SECURITY/dp/B00AW9FF8Q to sound when the door is left open.

Except, my prior experience with these is that they are very noisy!

Is there any such alarm on the market with adjustable volume?

Cheaper solution

I don't know about alarms, but I know it would be a LOT less expensive to take other measures, such as:

1. You can set an alarm on your phone to remind you every now and then to check and see if the door is open

2. You can leave a post-it-notes around the house in places that you often see to remind yourself to check

3. You could always set up a barrier by the door or the hallway to your bedroom (depending on the house layout) so that even if you forget to shut the door the cat can't get in. Here's a picture of one that you can do yourself that's made of wire closet shelving (and you can hang a bell over it so you'll hear if the cats attempt to climb or otherwise mess with it): https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/9b/1b/a4/9b1ba48c2ba20417785105ac770e90d3.jpg

It just seems pretty expensive to buy and install an alarm just to prevent something as simple as forgetting to shut a door

I don't have an idea if there's one with adjustable level but you can always muffle the speaker with something to mute some tones down. Like wrap a cloth around the device with the speaker etc :)

Best regards, Noekeon & Kana!
