Or as good as anyway. :p I was writing out the shopping list for the week and mum said to get a stainless steel fry pan so we could throw the non-stick ones out! :D I bought up the teflon issue ages ago and she said no way was she throwing out our fry pans for the birds. Then i think i was talking about it again at the weekend, and mentioned how an over heated teflon pan can release fumes that kill birds almost instantly, with no treatment. I assumed that she still didn't really take it seriously, but i've been proved wrong and i'm so happy. :excited:

Oh I'm so glad! I guess you telling them several times made them realize it's serious enough. That's really good. I told my mom too (in case she ever has to birdie sit) and she was shocked. She asked alot of questions and was very happy to know.

Hehe, i think she's warming up to the birds because she thinks i've stopped wanting more. :p Lucky for her it would be a really bad time to extend my flock right now anyway.

We only have one Teflon pan right now, but I'm in love with it. :(

Luckily, my boyfriend and I live in a basement suite right now, so the birds are down there and we have to go upstairs to cook, so it's not an issue while we're still living here. :)

Thats great Iam glad you can feel more comfortable when cooking now :) I want to convince my Mom too that we should get stainless steal. I have heard of birds on every level of the house dying when a teflon pan was over heated. It is terrible the dangerous things that can get on to market.

Lol I don't think my om will ever give up her cooking pots and pans.
The good thing is my birdies are a far away from the kitchen as possible.

Thats great you've finally got it through. You really do have to explain things very c-l-e-a-r-l-y with parents sometimes.

I have heard the same too- the fumes apparently travel and stick to things...

i actually find cooking with teflon hard....
as retarded as this sounds... when i use tefflon stuff sticks to it!... but when i use stainless, or iron pans... i never have to 'unstick' my food...
i have never trusted teflon....
little bits of black come off into food... i have seen it!
gimmie a normal pot an pan anyday!

Same here. Washing SS pots and pans is just as easy to me. It really hasn't made a difference. I just wash things as I am finished with them and that's it. Something tells me if the fumes do that to birds it can't possibly be good for humans in the long run either.
