A male and a female?! What now?

We recently found out that our two tiels are NOT both males. Surprise! They are under two yrs old and currently share a cage. It is not our intent to breed them. I have done some research on ways to discourage pairing, but alas I know nature always wins in the end. They really don’t like being separated so I am wondering if separate cages is really the only option. Looking for any ideas or guidance. Thanks!
