Hello guys, i have a question concerning my 4 week old cockatiel, i noticed he is losing alot of feathers, is it normal? Could he be plucking himself since he is bored in his brooder? Here are some picture of the fallen feathers so far and the baby.
I have taken him to an avian vet, he’s a healthy baby, the mother has abandonned him so i’ve been taking care of him.
The vet told me not to worries, has anyone faced this issue with a baby before?
Anyone has an idea what mutation/breed he is?
Thanks alot for the help!

I think you did exactly the right thing by taking him to a vet and taking care of him. I have raised cockatiels but haven't run across a situation like yours. Were there ANY other birds in with him that could have done the plucking? At least he looks old enough to start hand feeding and taming anyway which is a good thing. I really don't think it's abnormal but it is sure interesting. Young birds that age don't normally lose feathers like that. Keep me posted on this one!
