  1. Cockatiel Wing Clipping

    Cockatiel Talk
I know that this is a widely debated topic, but I had a question regarding Cockaitiels and wing clipping. Before I begin, my 'tiel Enzo has a minor clip, meaning that only his first four flight feathers were cut. The breeder I purchased him from only clipped his wings for the first time that...
  2. How do I teach her to fly downwards?

    Cockatiel Talk
Darla can fly up and she can obviously maintain height but she can't fly downwards so I was wondering what I can do to help her? She keeps trying and trying to fly to me when she's on top of her cage and I'm on the couch but all she can manage is to fly over my head and then loop back around to...
  3. Blood feathers, and flying/flapping in cage

    Cockatiel Talk
I don't have a flight cage, but there is enough room for my birds to stretch their wings etc. Sometimes these guys flap their wings like crazy and don't stop for 20 seconds and fall down and crash into things. and I get SO frightened for them when this happens! But so far nobody's been hurt it...
  4. Tiel just stopped flying

    Your Cockatiels Health
Anyone ever have one of their tiels just stop flying, and stop using the wing all together. There are no bumps, nothing is swollen, not shrieking. Preening fine, and is acting normal besides not flying.
  5. Panting?

    Cockatiel Talk
Quick question: So, after Yoko flies around for a long period of time, she opens her beak and "pants," easily audible, heavy, breathing. Is this normal? Thanks. :)

    Cockatiel Talk
Hi Cockatiel Talk participants! :-) I am looking for advice on keeping my 14-year-old male cockatiel, Conrad :tiel4:, safe; while letting him finally have his wings and learn to fly a little bit. Does anyone have tips on keeping a bird from flying away, while letting his wings grow...
  8. Wing hit wall, holding it awkwardly?

    Cockatiel Talk
As I mentioned a while ago, Shiraarat's wing feathers have grown and he's been flapping around more often. Not exactly graceful yet, but it's a start. What just happened about an hour or two ago, however, is that he launched himself off of the cage and tried to fly into the room, except my...
  9. Finally Flying!

    Cockatiel Talk
After weeks of watching him fly once or twice a day, (when we weren't around, so he'd land in the oddest places) he's finally doing it as a regular mode of getting places! I just uncovered him not even twenty minutes ago, and he followed our budgie and flew out of his cage to the room I'm in. A...
